And this week on days of our lives

Image
No, just kidding, my life is not a soap opera by any means... but life in general for me is interesting:) I posted this on my facebook page, but for those of you who missed it... Wednesday, I met with a friend before English Club at Mcdonalds... As we were leaving to go to the English Club, a man stopped us. He was obviously not Ukrainian ( because he had an interpreter) and his accent was not american, maybe British? Anyways he was older, so we politely responded to his hellos. And once he found out that we lived in L'viv, he said, you must be volunteers... so then my friend explained how we work for the church, and do different things... Well then this man asked us ( knowing we were heading to our meeting) what we teach... now this man referenced the Bible in his little introduction, just keep that in mind... So being the good Baptist we were raised to be, my friend gave the first response-- God sent his Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, he rose 3 days later, and he's...

Virtual Pounding or Killing

Image
So I decided that a video would be the best way to show you the apartment... a little more inviting and personal;) And since this is for those of you who physically are not able to be in Ukraine right now, a virtual house warming/pounding seemed appropriate. Normally I would do my hair and put makeup on, but it's raining, and I've mostly been doing homework today, so I did not feel like getting dolled up for a three minute video;) But I do not think you will judge my childish voice and look to match since I am showing you my big girl place, lol... anyways enjoy the video, giggle a little if you'd like, and remember to pray for me. My brother jokingly said that instead of a "Pounding" where you bring a pound of something to a house warming, I should have a "Killing" where you bring a kilo of something... So if I was in the states and you'd bring me a pound of canned veggies, or a pretty plant, I still need those things.  So, if you have those southern...

Signed. Sealed. Delivered.

SIGNED . So, if you have been reading my blog, then you know that I have been apartment hunting for about a month now. I set a really low budget and all the apartments I saw, well, they all lacked something. Some places had no washing machine ( I don't know how many of you have ever had to wash you clothes by hand, but it gets old real fast, especially when you have to wash sheets, towels or jeans)... Or some of the places lacked a real toilet( having a squatty potty- again no joy in that either)... So I kept looking, trusting God would bring me to the right place... and I believe he did. This place was at the top of my budget range, but only $25 more than I had hoped my rent would be. And it is worth it! I have a real toilet and a washer!  Here are some pics, these are my before shots, I will post another round of pics once the place is cleaned, and I get moved in... Brought my dad to see the place for the first time, and of course, I put him, and my brother and a friend to...

English Club

Image
Another great English Club last night! I've planned the English Club to be centered around music. The first night, we did the songs "Lean on Me" and " You've Got a Friend in Me" and then discussed friendships. Last week was country music night, and we looked at the song by Little Big Town, "Boondocks" and then talked about southern culture in US. Ya'll and sweet tea, things like that:) Then, last night was our third night, and it was rap night. Instead of looking at a rap song, I took a bunch of objects, and added a few vocabulary words, and then had everyone break into groups and make their own raps, using the objects and vocab words. I had a blast, listening to what the groups came up with, and they did such a great job! This week I remembered to bring the camera, so here are a few pics:) The Lesson portion of the night- Showing off the vocab words...  Another great crowd! Packed room! Coming up with their rap! Me? Talki...
