The One Word I never Say
Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps
himself out of trouble.Proverbs 20:23
When I was in 6th grade, I had this science teacher, that was fantastic! He was an older gentleman, with many years experience, and a passion for science and a desire to make young minds grasp life lesson. Suffering polio as a child, he walked with a cane, but he taught from a rolling desk chair. There are many moments from his class that I remember, but one moment in particular, he is sitting in his rolling chair, and spins around, and ask the class, " Do you know what happens when you assume?" Me being me, I am pondering this question, trying to come up with some scientific sounding answer, when the teacher continued..." When you assume, it makes an ass out of you and me." ... I think that might have been the first time I had heard a teacher use a bad word, but I still think about that moment to this day, and because of it I rarely use the word assume. But it is funny how I still assume. It has happened a lot lately, me saying something about someone that isn't true. I am not purposefully lying or making this mistake, but I often, assume information, and when it turns out I'm wrong, I feel horrible. Being embarrassed or looking like a fool, is just one of the worst feelings. Those feelings just validate the saying my 6th grade teacher exposed us to. It is so important to have the facts, to know the truth, and to only speak when we know that truth is provable. So if you are one of the people I've mistakenly introduced with the wrong biographical information, I do apologize.
All that to lead into I don't want anyone of you to be assuming things about me or my family...so here are some FAQ's.:
Is your dad safe? Yes, he is safe. But in an unstable country, there is always a risk or something happening that is unpredictable, so Ukraine is in constant need of your prayers.
When is your dad coming home? My dad has been in the hunt for a dog crate for our dalmatian- now that he has one, he is beginning to pack and search for tickets. We lived in Ukraine 9 years, and to pack up all of that life spent there does take some time.
How are you on funds for airline ticket for your dad? We have the money now (thank you) for the my dad's airline ticket- BUT transiting back into american life is not easy! With four adults now back on US soil, we will need another vehicle which will require funds. My dad will need a job. And until he finds employment, we need your help! Please consider supporting the us as a family through this period, not only financially but also through prayer. Our prayer is that for the reasons God has brought us off one mission field, that our eyes will not be closed to the mission field here.
What are your plans? I will be life-guarding some. And taking one day at a time. My heart will always have a piece in Ukraine, so I will always be drawn to there- but for reasons only known to God, he has asked me to stay in NC for the time being. I do not know why, I can't answer that, but I know in my spirit this is the right thing for me at the moment. I am still praying, trying to figure out if this is just another waiting period, and I will be back in Ukraine soon, or if this is the new season of my life. So- all of that to say, I will keep you posted, and again, until we get settled here in NC, and until, God gives me clear insight on where my life is heading, please continue to support me financially. I promise to be honest and forthcoming as I get informed by God;)
What about your boyfriend? Odd to me, this is the most popular question I've been asked lately. The boyfriend and I are good. He is safe, and remaining hopeful that the elections in May will bring stability to his country. We have been discussing him visiting NC, so who knows, maybe you all will be able to meet him in person! I love that you all care about him, and about he and I- and we are both trusting in our God who is big and trusting in the fact that He see's and knows all, and our future is bright when we are focused on doing what God wants:)
How is your brother and mom? They are both good! Evan got to shoot firearms today, so he is glowing. I think he is on his way to being an excellent cop. He also was able to get a scooter, so if you see him on the roads, watch out! :) Mom is working some hours, caring for children, teaching swim lessons. Trying to make ends meet, with my dad still overseas, paying living cost for two places, is not easy.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment below and I will add them to this list. Or you can FB message me on the Radical Feet FB page, or email me at the radical feet email address.
The most important thing right now, is that you know, we are in the act of obedience. We have no clue any time frames, we have no clue the purpose, or the outcome. All we know as a family is that when God calls, you better move! And trust us, we've been there done that a couple times now, and ever time there is a reason. So pray for us, pray that God's favor be on us during this time. Pray for Ukraine, that peace would be achieved, and that the government there would be in favor of the people. And if you feel led, any extra donations this month, would be very useful. Also, if you know of any job openings that you feel would benefit a Ledford family member, please email me. Or if you know of anyone willing to donate, or sell a vehicle at a reduce/good price, please also let me know!
Thank you for your continued love and concern! So grateful for all of you!
