Laws Against Hope


The country that I love, has been going through it, has gone through it, and I am sure will go through it again... the fight for freedom, democracy and the fight for hope for the future. Here is a translated list that I got from Facebook, that list the new laws:

1. For motion in the columns of more than 5 cars - withdrawal licence and the car for 2 years.
2. According to the news without state registration activity - confiscation of equipment and materials + heavy fine.
3. Violation of peaceful assembly - up to 10 days arrest.
4. Participation in peaceful gatherings in the helmet, uniform clothing, fire - up to 10 days.
5. Installation of tents, stages and even sound (!) without police permission (!) - Up to 15 days.
6. Contempt of court - 15 days
7. Failure to restrict access to the Internet - a fine of 6,800 USD.
8. Failure to comply with the SBU agents "legitimate demands" - a fine of more than 2 thousand UAH.
9. Protocol on administrative violations can not be given the person you believe violator (so-called "witnesses" are enough).
10. Notice delivery confirmation is now not only person's signature, but "any other information" as well (!)
11. Blocking access to housing (completely new criminal provision ) - 6 years.
12. Slander (returned to the Criminal Code!!) - 2 years.
13. The spread of extremist materials (!!) - 3 years.
14. "group violations of public order" - 2 years
15. Riots - 10 and even 15 years (!) - Any participant Square can be planted under this heading, without other articles to mention (!).
16. Gathering information about riot police “Berkut”, judges and other similar characters - 3 years.
17. The threat of a policeman or a similar character - 7 years.
18. gathering information about the judge - 2 years
19. NGOs that receive funds from abroad - now "foreign agents" have to pay tax on the "profit" and officially known as "foreign agents".
20. NGOs are not allowed to "extremist activities".
21. Churches are not allowed to "extremist activities"
22. State may take the decision to ban Internet access
23. NGO deemed to be involved in political activity if it seeks how to influence the decisions of government (then in such activities and funding must request prior permission of the State) .
24. A person may be sentenced (including many years in prison) correspondence, i.e. absence from court.
25. Prior to liability for violation of traffic rules in place now possible to draw the driver's car owners if violations recorded automatically means.
26. MP may be deprived of immunity and consent to his arrest without considering specialized committee - right at the plenary session of parliament.
27. "Golden Eagle" and officials who have committed crimes against activists square exempt from punishment.19. NGOs that receive funds from abroad - now "foreign agents" have to pay tax on the "profit" and officially known as "foreign agents".20. NGOs are not allowed to "extremist activities".

As you've read, this is not good, for the country of Ukraine or for the church. Now that things will be monitored more closely by the government, it will be harder and harder for people to fight for their freedom. Please pray for Ukraine. Pray for light to fill the country. Pray that those who want hope for their future will continue to stand for what is right. Pray that the gospel would not be suppressed but will flourish in this hard times. Pray for the current leaders and their souls. Pray for the President of Russia, for his heart and soul too. I'm not calling for extreme activities, just extreme prayer. And if you aren't in Ukraine, pray especially for those who will continue to counter these laws. Pray for those who are imprisoned for standing up for their country and faith. 

The more we know, the better we can respond. America needs to know, Europe needs to know, that this is going on... opposition would love to see some sanctions set against UA's current leaders. SO please, share on  FB and email, what is going on in Ukraine-- let's see if we can't get international attention on the changes being made there!

Serenity

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.  Today has been a bit of a struggle for me. I've been asking God why, which is never an encouraging way to spend the day. It all started with a little boy at the social orphanage. Last week, he was a little wild, so I just scooped him up, and held him in my lap, while Ed told the Bible Story. As we sat, this little boy just melted into my arms, sat quietly, and listened. So this week, as soon as I sat down in the classroom, he was climbing into my lap, and started to just talk to me.  He told me how everyone had gotten picked up this weekend and got to go home for the holiday Ukraine just celebrated. This social orphanage we go to, the kids live and go to school in one place. Their parents either are incarcerated, too poor to care for their child, or a single parent. RIP

I  want to take the time to let you know how great Dr. K was. He has been a ministry partner with Hands on Missions for a really long time. His free medical clinic offered aid to thousand. He would make house calls (even to the missionaries in town) and give free medicine. Often he would visit our elderly neighbors, patiently listen to their every whim, as though he had all his day to offer sympathy. I left Ukraine for a couple years, and when I returned, I ran into Dr. K on the street. He genuinely took interest in how I was doing asking questions and encouraging me. Couple months ago my arm went numb and I was freaking out a little bit so I went to Dr. K for help. I was in pain and worried, and he looked at me and said, its okay, don't worry. And after a chiropractic session, I could feel my hand again.
