O that is just dreadful...
So, I guess with Valentines Day quickly approaching the topic of love, relationships and singleness is not only on my mind, but also the media's. I follow USA today on Facebook and they posted an article on what singles are looking for in a significant other, and what they are not (http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/02/04/singles-dating-attraction-facebook/1878265/?csp=fbfanpage)....
Who would of thought teeth are so important to single people? Yea, that is not the first thing I look for but whatever.... the thing that got me most about the article was out of those survey,
"42% would not date a virgin" Are you kidding me?
I disagree with those statistics... honestly... I think that deep down people want to date conservative people. You know, the kind of people that save themselves for marriage. Why? Because marriage is a commitment where two people join their lives for a forever. If you can't save yourself for marriage then how are you going to commit your life forever to someone? We are God designed for a sexual relationship... Baby making is very important, God says so. But no where does it say, hey go and shack up with as many people as you can, then when you feel you are the right age, settle down and marry one... then have a crappy marriage where you have screaming kids who punch, and a marriage that is only based on the physical which got lost after baby number two came along ( we've all seen that scenario played out in movies, tv and lets face it, it could be someone you knows life)...
Now I am not saying that people who have had sex before marriage are going to hell in a hand basket and can't have a successful marriage. I feel that our culture has lost touch with reality. Do you think that God is sitting up high looking down going, " haha, I'm going to make sex before marriage a sin so everyone can fail at life... " Um come on, God doesn't play games... What he does do is care for his children. The reason that sex before marriage is not a good idea is because sex is an emotional connector. And when you connect on that level, you are vulnerable. And in theory, when you have sex, you are being vulnerable with your husband, a person who has committed his life to you forever, so there is no risk of vulnerability biting you in the tush...
By now you are either say, "yea, you are right, sex for marriage is how I see it too," or you are going, "this is a bunch of bologna and you've never been laid so you don't have a clue."
The truth-- I'm a virgin. But I have made mistakes in relationships and have been in a position where I was not God honoring with the person I was with. I regret that I lowered my standards for a moment in order to "fit in" ... But I'm tired of people thinking that fitting in is more important then putting God first in their lives... O I am going to put God first by going to church on Sunday, BUT I am going to go along with whatever my girlfriend is willing to do... O I am going to go on this week long mission trip, BUT I am going to move in with my boyfriend to save money... Let's get real, all that means is you are afraid that by honoring God with your whole life, including your relationships, you are going to miss out on something... The truth of the matter is, the only thing you will miss out on is heart ache and pain. It takes a long time to heal from emotional damage.. .and that baggage can follow you like a lost puppy for a long time. So think about your life, the choices you make. Just because the media projects that being a virgin is uncool and that your teeth are more important than virginity, doesn't mean they have a clue... Let's face it, the media also thought the feeding tube diet was cool, and we all know that it is just gross and dumb...
So stand up for living a right life. God will meet your needs, God will bless your life, and there are men and women who are committed to saving themselves for a life marriage-- so don't settle and don't fall for the lie that everyone is doing "it" and you should too. And if this is a minute too late for you, repent, and collect yourself back up, and choose today to live a life committed to pure living, because in all actuality, we should care more about what God thinks than what everyone else is thinking...
I am a virgin, and I have good teeth and I support this message. :)
