Sulk time

* Okay if you are a dude reading this, let me save you some time... the next few paragraphs are about my woes of being single. I know you don't care really, so this is for you...  Singleness is not bad. Saving sex for marriage is good. 2013 is a year for you to love others before yourself and to make a lasting difference- single or not:) Your welcome... Now for you who want all the mushy emotional stuff, keep reading....

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Man, nothing like the fireworks going off at the stroke of midnight, with love birds kissing in the new year to  remind you that you have no significant other..

And to top it off, only one month and 14 days till you are reminded again, " Hey you are single, why don't you start a cat collection now!"

You all know by now that I normally blog my thoughts or my own personal reminders so I bet you can tell what kind of blog post this is today... But as I sulk a bit in my single status, I am having to force myself to think differently (granted I did not do so well with this throughout the day)...

Singleness is not illness.
It is not sad.
It is not lonely.
Singleness does not define me.
It does not control me.
It does not hinder me.

I was reminded tonight that me being single is for a reason. I'm not an easy person to get along with. I have high moral standards and quite frankly I am picky and high maintenance when it comes to relationships.

I wasn't picky once, and it didn't work out. I let my myself not be uptight about this subject once, and it didn't work. I got emotional hurt and I had to learn my lesson on what is appropriate and what is not in the dating world.

The point now is though, that yes, I am about to have a birthday and most likely the year 2013 will be another year filled with singleness, and sometimes it is a lonely to be reminded...

BUT COME ON!

Look at my life. I get to live in a foreign country. I travel. I have friends all over the world. I lean new languages. I have goals and dreams. I have a purpose. I am happy.

So I don't have a guy to share in all that, but hey, one day right? Now though (okay maybe starting tomorrow) I am not going to sulk. I am a child of God. I am a princess entitled to my pickiness. I am a virgin and grateful that I am...

If you are single, and feeling a little sulk like too today... I feel ya... But remember that you are beautifully designed. And even if you are like me and not just single but like "super single"-- please know you are not alone in that feeling... Don't settle for less, don't have sex to feel the void, and don't spend your days sulking.
Sure you can have today, I will even say you can sulk on Valentines day too... but seriously, singleness is not a crime- it is not a disease-- you can be happy single- more importantly God has a plan for the single you... So embrace your status-- Hold off for a relationship that will be God honoring and don't enter a relationship from a position of desperation.. and just find joy in your life today!

2013 is here. How will you spend your time ( and your singleness) in order to serve Him, to love others and to make a lasting difference in this crazy world?

Sulk time is over! Tell the single you to pull it together and Go serve!

Sex is a good thing. It must be, if God created it! The only way to keep it a “good thing” is to follow God’s guidelines. God will reward you if you choose to honor Him, and save sex for its proper time and place — your marriage:

  1. AWESOME post Chelsea. More gals need to have your perspective. Though I know I'm in no position to talk, I totally understand and empathize with your sentiments.

Love and blessings. God is doing an amazing work in your life and through your life to share the Gospel.
