In the Village
Well, this week is fall break in the schools, so there has not
been any ministry going on at the orphanage... But I have been staying in a
village house sitting for friends while they are out of town working on getting
their visas. So it’s me, two dogs, a guinea pig, a rabbit, and a kitten...
I will be out here (that being a 30 min drive from my parents apartment in the
city) for another two weeks. It's been nice to have a house to myself. I've
done a lot of sitting outside in the lovely fall weather that has been so sunny
this week. And I did some cooking... its funny how you can change your
surroundings and the things you do change. In the city, it is like you are
always doing something, going somewhere... the hustle and bustle... in the
village however, I've sat outside, read my book, and cooked some yummy
things... But it is a good reminder that sometimes, you just need to take
moments to refresh your spirit. If you are always doing something; you forget
to take time to press the pause button. In doing so, we can miss out on the
verse that says, “Be still and know that I am God." If you never press
pause, you could miss out on quality time with the Father. So, all that to say,
it is nice being able to press pause.
Did I mention that while staying out here, I get to drive...
Unlike the states, driving in Ukraine is ridiculous. Nobody likes waiting their
turn here. Everyone drives like they are the most important persons on the
road. Pedestrians cross in the middle of the road and want you
to yield to them like they are the king or queen of England.
Even the pigeons on the street have this attitude. It is quit frustrating.
But, again, this is a good way to strengthen my spirit, because I am constantly
at risk of hitting someone else, being hit, or losing my cool.
This week, I was given the responsibility of buying the
food for the Poor Ministry that takes place every other Saturday. I think
I did pretty well, bought all that was needed and under budget.
So Saturday I will have to drive into the city center and deliver the
20 bags of food.
Please pray for all those we encounter while handing out the food.
That people will see the light within us and want the same thing, to know of
the bread of life.
Also, I just want to say thank you again to those of who you gave
to the ministry this month. Without you I could not be here. Ministry here is a
way of life. Every day you encounter people that are looking at your actions as
a witness to who you claim to be. It is easy to say you’re a Christian, and to
share the gospel. The hard part is living a life that reflects gospel so people
see that you are a Christian.
God has me where He wants me. No person or moment is too small for
God to use to bring Himself glory.
So peace be with you.
And thanks for Keeping up with me:)
