Ministry Starts
*warning* this a longer blog, but full of information... do not read if you do not want your heart to tug for the people of Ukraine. If you feel a tug, please respond how God is leading you! Prayer makes a big difference in a place like Ukraine.
EMMA
So lately I've been thinking about ministry. A lot. How can I make a difference, how can I stop Human Trafficking, how canI be the most effective at reaching people for Christ? My answer. One person at a time. One child at a time. One teen at a time. One college student at a time. One Grandparent at a time. My heart today is breaking for kids who are growing up without anyone to care for them. They need to feel loved, and know that their are people who care about them, but more importantly that God cares about them.
This is Emma to the right. She has spent a lot of time with my family over the summer, and now she has taken to me too. Well more she is taken with playing Barbie dress up games on my computer. But she has no where else to go, no where safe to hang out and spend time. One child at a time. By giving her a place to be, it keeps her from finding other "normal" mischief that children find to get into here...
A side note
This Past Friday, we had a picnic to enjoy our last few days of sunshine before winter starts...
grilled meat, grilled zucchini, mmmm!

The Poor
So on Saturday, the church we attend, God's Word, does a poor ministry every other week. They take bags of food into the center city and hand them out to those who beg on the streets. Well apparently word has gotten around, and as 15 bags is usually plenty, this week it was not. All these people stood waiting to receive a bag of food, and our regulars were still waiting on their bag. So we had to buy more food.
A lot of people in L'viv, live in poverty. Ukraine is a third world country, and food and amenities are expensive. With out a lot of work to be had, people can't make ends meet. There are not like programs in the states, where you can obtain government assistance for food and shelter. And in a country like Ukraine people are convinced there is no hope to be had. "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined." Isiah 9:2
| "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27 |
With Christ in our lives, his spirit dwells in us. We are to "let our light shine before men, so that they may see our good deeds and praise our father in heaven"(Matt. 5:14).
The Bible is very clear that we are to help the orphans and the widowed...give to the poor, it even goes so far that Jesus tells a man that if he wants to be one of his disciples that the man must sell all his possessions and give to the poor.
This is a long post, I know. But please be in prayer for the ministry needs of Ukraine. For the souls who have no hope. Please pray about how you can be involved. How you can give financially to make ministry possible. There is such a need.
* A bag of food cost roughly 6-8 dollars a bag and we do it at least twice a month. If your interested in helping provide financial assistance for this ministry, please let me know.
* Any children's craft supplies could be used: especially construction paper.
