My year in more pictures than words( ok I tired to make it short)

I greeted 2013 in L'viv Ukraine. My second year of Missionary life. I turned 23 and struggled with what God had in store for me. Problems with living permits made life stressful, but still, God had a plan for me.                                                                         God brought college friends to L'viv! And a dose of fellowship does the heart a lot of good!                                    And if you didn't know from Facebook, I started a relationship with Yura. He is fantastic:) I saw more snow this past year then I ever though possible!  A great year with these great kids! Even though I had to leave them before the school year ended, I know that the seeds planted in...

He Had It Coming: Phil Robertson's Quote Upsets Facebook

It has spread like wild fire on Facebook- Duck Dynasty's, Phil Robertson, has been banned from the A&E network for his statement on homosexuality. Apparently, it is wrong to state that homosexuality is illogical and not what God intended.  hmm...  Phil is also quoted as saying, “I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” So here is the thing I don't get...  No matter your viewpoint on gay marriage and homosexual relationships, we all should have the right to have a viewpoint. If you are for gay rights, you have the right to speak out, to fight for what you believe in. My problem though, is that thing called reverse prejudices. You have the right to speak out for gay rights, but if a conservative Christian speaks for what they believe in, they get banned from their own television show...

Knock the Hope Out

If you are friends with me on Facebook, then you've seen the million post on my wall about the current political situation in Ukraine. When I think about Ukraine, I think about the creativity of my friends, the way people gather in the streets to watch a good street performance... I think about how if you go to someone's home, you are treated like a royal guest and you can never have to much tea or to many cookies when catching up with friends. Sadly though, what I also think about in regards to Ukraine is it's brutal past. Filled with hostile governments and horrifying famines and many wars. I think about the "failure" of the Orange Revolution that was the first time progressive thinkers felt hopeful that Ukraine could abandon it's dark past. In the past few years, yes Ukraine has had a pro-Russian president. But while his ties with Russia have been strong, so has his needs for a richer economy- which meant, bringing in western businesses and events like ...

Week #? in America

When jet lag consumes you for the first two weeks of your time, then you have you mom and brother fly in, and fight their own jet lag battles (which includes being awake at 4 in the morning, which means I'm woken up then too) ... Time just ticks by! But I can report that us three Ledfords are doing well, and my dad in Ukraine is surviving too! Today was the first I've seen on the news here in the US on the protest going on in Ukraine. I hope that you will take the time to do a news search and read the articles coming out about Ukraine. Protest are big today and will again be big on the 11th of Dec. Ukrainians are fighting for democracy and for the Ukrainian president to be impeached, so that a deal with Russia will not be signed. To avoid the development of the soviet union it is important that Ukraine stay independent from Russia. It is important to pay attention to what happens to Ukraine because it will affect all our futures in someway. SO please pray for Ukraine, pray ...
